民族问题与民族工作在西部大开发中具有重要的位置 ,邓小平民族理论在这一现实问题上具有重要的指导意义 :充分认识民族问题的重要性、长期性、复杂性 ,高度重视民族问题 ;坚持民族发展的理论 ,让少数民族和民族地区在西部大开发中真正发展起来 ;坚持民族平等、民族团结和各民族共同繁荣的原则 ,正确处理和解决开发进程中的民族关系问题 ;加强民族区域自治制度的建设 ,完善民族区域自治法 ,贯彻落实各项民族政策 ,使西部大开发中民族问题的解决走上法制化的轨道。西部大开发 ,仍然应以邓小平民族理论作为处理和解决民族问题的指导思想和理论依据。
