始兴县素有“中国围楼文化之乡”之称,现有围楼249座,其中保存状况较好的有110座,保存状况一般的有42座,保存状况较差的有97座。该县每年拨出100万资金对围楼进行维修,但由于财政紧张,始兴围楼群远达不到文物保护的基本要求。为此,该县发动社会各界开展围楼认养活动。目前等待认养的围楼包括松竹长春围楼、栋护晴岚围楼、庆肇鸿图围楼、万古观光围楼、泰安阁等28座,规定认养年限20年至50年,认养费视围楼的大小而定。近日,该县廖屋围楼成功被始兴县秀峰温泉公司认养,并已一次性交清认养费。廖屋村围楼
