《发展经济学通论》第1卷乃《农业与工业化》上卷之扩充版。全书共34万字,扩大部分占其中1/3强,最近由湖南出版社出版。回顾此书由1949年英文原版,进而到现在的中文扩充版,时间跨度达40余年。其间历经中断与坎坷,令人慨叹,亦令人知难奋进。在这一过程中,常有不少想法和思索在我脑海里闪现盘迴。同时,从最早撰写此书的意图到现在发行扩大版的旨趣,虽然完全一致,都在于研究和探寻象中国这样的农业国家或发展中国家,如何实现工业化和现代化,实现经济起飞和经济发展;但由于数十年来国际形势和国内情况的变迁,所研究的问题就其范围和内容以及观察的角度而言,亦应本诸历史唯物主义的原则作出必要的更动。凡此种种,都必须向广大读者作一简要说明。
Volume 1 of the “General Theory of Development Economics” is an expanded version of the “Agriculture and Industrialization” volume. The book a total of 340,000 words, an expansion of which accounted for one-third, recently published by Hunan Publishing House. Recall the book by the English version of 1949, then to the current Chinese version of the expansion, spanning more than 40 years. In the meantime, after the interruption and ups and downs, it is lamenting and hard-pressed to make progress. In this process, many ideas and thoughts often flashed back in my mind. At the same time, from the earliest intention of writing this book to the issue of an enlarged edition now, they are entirely identical in that they study and explore agricultural countries or developing countries like China, how to achieve industrialization and modernization, economic take-off and economic development; However, due to the changes in the international situation and the domestic situation over the past decades, the issues studied have made the necessary changes in the light of their scope and content as well as their perspectives on the basis of the principles of historical materialism. All these must be a general description of the majority of readers.
