去年11月下旬,在广州、香港召开了亚太地区首次成人女子教育研讨会。中国、日本,澳大利亚等14个国家的代表出席了会议。此次会议在国际上引起较大反响,国际广播公司曾多次对会议进行了报道。中国代表领队、中国妇女管理干部学院副院长徐明同志的论文得到与会代表的普遍重视,不少人士认为,发展中国家的成人女子教育应当借鉴中国的方式,走中国的道路。我们摘发这篇论文(论文原題目为“中国成人女子教育的命运及其对策”),目的就在于让更多的同仁了解中国成人女子教育的情况,重视成人女子的教育问题。因为,杜会的发展、文明的进步。都是与妇女的解放程度紧密相关的,而妇女的解放程度又是与妇女的教育程度密切相联的。
