凯撒铝业公司的第一台电磁铸造装置装在特伦特伍德(Trentwood)工厂。这台同时可铸5块铸锭的装置,铸造了截面为508×1092毫米的5182铝合金扁锭,用于轧制饮料罐盖坯料。新工艺获得成功是对在很大程度上是由于精心试验、组织和培训的结果。电磁铸造法技术比常规铸造法复杂得多,特别机组的调整、冷却水的质量和金属杂质含量的控制。该法的优点是:铸造的锭可不铣面;多模铸造;热轧机效率高(铸锭积存量减少,均匀化时间缩短)。电磁铸锭表面光滑,一般没有缺陷。当前凯撒铝业公司生产的饮料罐盖坯料,全是用5182合金电磁锭轧制的。
Caesar Aluminum’s first electromagnetic casting unit was installed at the Trentwood plant. This unit, which can cast up to 5 ingots at the same time, casts a 5182 aluminum alloy slab with a cross-section of 508 x 1092 mm for rolling of beverage can ends. The success of the new process is to a large extent due to careful testing, organization and training. Electromagnetic casting technology is much more complex than the conventional casting method, special unit adjustment, the quality of cooling water and metal impurities control. The advantages of this method are: the ingot can be cast without face milling; multi-die casting; hot-rolling mill with high efficiency (reduction of ingot stock, shortening of homogenization time). Electromagnetic ingot surface smooth, generally no defects. Current Caesar Aluminum Company beverage can lid blank, all with 5182 alloy electromagnetic rolling.
