男性分泌FSH的调节是个复杂的过程。用类固醇抑制FSH只有在其剂量也抑制黄体激素(LH)时才发生。也观察到用X线选择性破坏生精细胞,结果FSH升高而LH不升高。曾有人认为睾丸产生一种激素调节垂体FSH的产生。Mastins和Rocha 1951年称此种激素为雄激素(Androhormone)。1952年McCullagh称之为抑制素,1942年 Klinefelter等称之为X-激素。选择性破坏生精细胞的方法方法很多,其结果是使FSH水平升高。方法有:X-线照射,首先是1932年Mottram和Cramer应用照射39
The regulation of male FSH secretion is a complex process. Inhibition of FSH with a steroid occurs only when its dose also inhibits the progestin (LH). X-ray selective destruction of spermatogenic cells was also observed, with the result that FSH increased and LH did not increase.
