Sixty-four patients with acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis were randomly divided into Western medicine group (n = 20), TCM group (n = 21) and Integrative Chinese and western medicine (n = 23). The curative effect and relapse time were observed in each group. After 1 course of treatment, the total clinical effective rates of western medicine group, traditional Chinese medicine group and integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine group were 95.24%, 85.0% and 95.65% respectively.
