The use of optical orbital angular momentum transfer information can effectively improve the rate of information transmission. The basic concepts and main features of the optical momentum of the light orbit are introduced. The basic principles and typical systems of the free space optical communication based on the orbital angular momentum are discussed. The related key technologies are also analyzed.
