军官一词,在我国古籍中,最早见于公元一世纪东汉人班固所著《汉书·百官公卿表》。该书称:“搜粟都尉,武帝军官,不常置”。就是说,“军官”一词在公元前一百多年的汉武帝时就出现了。当时只是把掌管军粮的官员称为“军官”。宋代以后史籍中的“军官”就是泛指武职官员了。如《宋史·官职制》中说,“洪迈欲改三衙军官称谓”;元代将官吏区分为军官和民官两大类,但在职官制度的用语上仍以“文武”相称。
