What is the middle income trap According to the World Bank, the world’s economies can be divided into three groups: low-income, middle-income and high-income groups according to their GNI per capita. Data from August 2010 showed that the low-income standard was annual per capita GNI of $ 995 and below, medium income of $ 996 to $ 12,195 and high income of $ 12,196 and above. Among them, the middle income standard is divided by 3845 dollars into “lower middle income” and “middle income”. By this standard, only 60 of the 230 or so economies in the world have become high-income countries and 104 economies are in the middle-income stage. The World Bank’s East Asia Economic Development Report (2006) proposed a “middle-income trap”
