Many in vitro and in vivo studies have shown that Ca ~ (++) plays an important role in the insulin release process. Therefore, it is not difficult to understand the abnormal parathyroid hormone secretion of various secondary chronic calcium metabolic disorders, such as hypoparathyroidism or hyperthyroidism, will significantly affect the secretion of pancreatic islet disorders. Calcitonin has been reported to cause diabetes in humans. The rapid administration of calcitonin in normal, obese and pre-diabetic patients suppresses insulin secretion stimulated by glucose and hinders the utilization of intravenous glucose. This article reports the effects of intramuscular calcitonin on oral glucose tolerance (OGTT), plasma insulin, C-peptide, glucagon, and growth hormone levels in normal, impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) patients. Of the 16 subjects, 8 (male 3, female 5, 25-45)
