历代王朝由于尊孔崇儒,给曲阜留下了众多的文物古迹。曲阜现有文物古迹112处、遍布曲阜城区和乡镇,其中孔府、孔庙、孔林、鲁故城遗址被公布为第一批全国重点文物保护单位,联合国教科文组织还在1994年将孔府、孔庙、孔林列为世界文化遗产。在这众多的名胜古迹中,存有金、元、明、清历代古建筑1300余间,两汉以来历代碑刻5000余块,古墓10万多座,古树名木1.7万余株。孔府里还保存着10万多件文物,其中有历代帝王赏赐给衍圣公的礼器、典籍和古玩、珍宝,有孔子嫡孙搜集保护的古代礼器、法物,还有历代孔子画像、元明时代的服饰、衍圣公夫妇画
