抗战时期,正值山河破碎、生灵涂炭民族浩劫之际,远居香港的宋庆龄总惦记战时首都重庆的抗战局势、民族运动、妇女工作。为了亲历了解大后方人民高昂的爱国热情,同仇敌忾的民族义愤,团结御侮的抗日决心;为了体察战争的灾难,民族的危机。她不顾日机轰炸的危险毅然决定返回祖国,与祖国和人民在一起,用行动来实现孙中山弥留时“和平奋斗救中国”的遗嘱,而义无反顾地投身于抗日救国的洪流中。宋庆龄一度在重庆战斗、生活而与之结下不解之缘。1940
