The 110 km optical cable line designed and constructed to develop the telecommunications industry in Tibet of China has been put into operation. The cable connects Lhasa with Nyingchi and Qamdo, located in the mountains. This is the second cable to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The first is from Lhasa to Lanzhou. Tibet plans to connect all cities and regions by optical fiber cables by 2003, and connect all counties in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau by the year of 2005 with the second
