对于死亡的禁忌和避讳是中文与英文共有的语言文化现象,虽然两者有着不少相似的表达法,但在具体的应用上仍有一定的差异。本文以《哈利波特与死亡圣器》的英文原版和中文译本为例,观察了其中对于死亡的描述方法,总结了英汉中死亡禁忌语的特点,并比较了两者的异同;此外观察了英译汉过程中对于直接与委婉描述的的处理,从而为英汉翻译和跨文化交际提供指导。
Taboo and taboo for death are the common language and culture of both Chinese and English. Although there are quite a few similar expressions between the two, there are still some differences in the specific applications. Taking the English version and the Chinese version of The Potter and the Deathly Hallows as an example, this article observes the description of death, summarizes the characteristics of death taboo in English and Chinese, and compares the similarities and differences between the two. In addition, In the process of English to Chinese translation, the direct and euphemistic treatment is provided to provide guidance for English-Chinese translation and intercultural communication.
