The development and evolution of Chinese historiography has contributed to the continuous progress and prosperity of Chinese historiography from the concept of “seeking truth from facts” in ancient history and the historical concept of evolution to the historical materialism. Reviewing the history of the development of Chinese historiography and examining the pros and cons of different theoretical forms can help us to make a profound reflection on Chinese historiography, make a clear understanding and a correct assessment, and promote the further maturation and improvement of the theoretical system of historiography.
