2006年初制定的《山西省“十一五”规划纲要》中,对山西品牌发展有明确的目标规划:重点培育80个山西标志性名牌产品,到2010年,争创30个中国名牌产品,打造3-5个具有国际竞争力的世界名牌产品。而到目前为止,山西仅有中国名牌产品12个,山西标志性名牌产品41个,山西名牌产品195个,获国家地理标志保护产品3个,国家免检产品23个。与先进省市相比,山西仍有相当大的差距。
