干旱地区是我省洋芋的主要产区,历来播种面积200万亩左右,占全省洋芋总播面积的50％以上。该区农业气候的突出特点是:海拔高(1200——2400公尺)、降雨少(184——621毫米)、且集中(集中于7、8、9三个月),日照充足,光资源丰富,适于发展洋芋生产。但由于土壤贫瘠,有机质含量低(一般0.3——190),技术推广工作跟不上,经营粗放,种植方式落后等原因,致使洋芋产量长期低而不稳,一般亩产仅有800——1000斤左
