海南建省以来,在国家的大力支持和省委、省政府的高度重视下,文化事业和文化产业得到了较快发展。文化基础设施建设明显增强。“十五”期间,财政投入大文化3.32亿元,与“九五”相比增加了近8倍,建设海南文化公园及15个市县的22个图书馆、文化馆、公共体育场所等一系列基础设施。广播电视网络不断完善。全省广播、电视综合人口覆盖率达到了95.86%和94.52%,旅游卫视作为全国第一家上星的省级专业频道,在2005年中国传媒年会上被评为最具投资价值的媒体之一。新闻出版产业综合竞争实力明显增强。党报改革、海南新华书店改革、琼版图书等成为文化改革和发展的一系列亮点。文体活动蓬勃开展。连续成功举办了三届世界小姐总决赛、三届世界太极拳大会、“世界杯”横渡琼州海峡马拉松大赛等一系列极富影响力的大型文化体育活动。优秀文艺作品不断涌现。创作排演了《达达瑟》、《鹿回头》、《苏东坡在海南》、《黄道婆》等一批优秀剧目。在国有文化建设取得突出进展的同时,海南作为全国最大的经济特区,为民营文化发展提供了宽松、有利的生存和发展条件,从而使民营文化呈现了良好的发展势头。“天涯社区”、“凯迪网络”等网站在国内外拥有较强的影响力。

While remarkable progress has been made in the construction of state-owned culture, Hainan, as the largest special economic zone in the country, provides loose and favorable conditions for the survival and development of privately-owned cultural development.
