Anthony Dunne is currently Director of Interactive Design at the Royal College of Art, and co-founder of Dunne & Raby Studios. In 1994-1997, Dunn was pursuing his Ph.D. at the Royal College of Art. Hertzian Tales: Electronic Products, Aesthetic Experience, and Critical Design evolved from his doctoral dissertation . During his stay, he noticed that architectural department students, besides their daily teaching, participated in the construction of large-scale public buildings and private houses as well as product design and other activities, both in academic and professional fields. In contrast, design students were more conservative and covered only in commercial product design. As a result, Dunn tried to make designers such as architects work in general, theory and practice of combining teaching and studios, conceptual and practical projects cross. On the other hand, he is impressed with the potential of electronic technology and believes that the design must be further developed in order to make full use of this technology. Ultimately, Dunn’s “Heroes” Daniel Weil gave him an opportunity to invite him to work in the Department of Industrial Design as a researcher, putting both ideas into practice. In connection with Dunne, Dunn said the book was primarily for the designer, but anyone else interested could read it. Design without Borders, for young designers in China, the book’s expectations for them still explore the design potential, to challenge the limitations of everyday life by science and technology, to provide people with more life possible.
