在毛主席革命路线指引下,宁夏地质局区测队在进行区域地质调查过程中,于宁夏阿拉善左旗北部,查汗熬包附近,吉兰太图幅[10-48-(4)]内,首次发现恐龙蛋化石(见照片1、2).古生物学已证实,距今约两亿多年至7千多万年前的中生代,地球上曾有恐龙生存.宁夏所发现的恐龙蛋化石,据目前了解世界上产地甚少,在我国更是罕见.经中国科学院古脊椎动物与古人类研究所杨钟健教授等初步鉴定,认为属白垩纪化石.恐龙蛋
