红河断裂的近期活动表现在对水系发育的控制作用方面。该断裂的弥渡——元阳段,断错水系十分发育,深受人们重视。本文基于对几条断错河谷的细致研究,运用重砂分析和光谱分析方法测定了一些晚第四纪阶地沉积物的来源,揭露水系的演变过程,从而实现用地层法确定断层错距。结果表明,红河断裂在晚第四纪中的最大右旋水平错距达6公里,平均错动速度为1.2厘米/年。古地震资料表明沿红河断裂有过强烈地震活动;历史地震资料反映在元江、(?)嘉等地均发生过破坏性地震;近几百年来,于断裂东北侧的通海、建水、石屏、楚雄等地有过大地震。这些事实表明伴随红河断裂的右旋运动,有着强烈的地震活动,并表现出明显的周期性和迁移性。
Recent activities of the Red River fault show its control over the development of the water system. The fault Midu - Yuanyang section, broken water system is very developed, by people’s attention. Based on the careful study of several faulty valleys, the origin of sediments in late Quaternary was determined by heavy sand analysis and spectral analysis, and the evolution of the water system was revealed. The results show that the maximum dextral horizontal offset of the Honghe fault in the late Quaternary reaches 6 km with an average velocity of 1.2 cm / year. Paleoseismic data indicate that there was a strong seismic activity along the Red River fault; historical seismic data reflected the destructive earthquakes in the Yuanjiang and Kaifang areas; in the recent several hundred years, Screen, Chuxiong and other places have had a big earthquake. These facts show that with the right-lateral movement of the Red River fault, there is a strong earthquake activity and shows obvious periodicity and migration.
