“我国的经济正处在由低工资,低生产率体制转向高工资、高生产率体制的过程中。这一过程正在顺利进行着……我们正如一个踩在飞荡的秋千上的人一样,他甩动一下以后,现在悬在半空,无法停顿下来。如果他要恢复到安全状态,就必须再甩动秋千。同样的道理,我们除了加紧进行我们的经济重组之外,别无其他的选择了”。(见《海峡时报》,1985年7月27日,第1版)。上面这段话是当时新加坡共和国贸易与工业部长、政府委任的经济委员会主席就新加坡经济急剧衰退问题所发表的评述。这一讲话反映了新加坡政府对这个城市国家经济
"Our economy is in the process of moving from a low-wage, low-productivity system to a high-wage, high-productivity system that is progressing well ... We’re just like a man on a flying swings, After the move, it is now hanging in the air and can not be stopped, and if he is to return to a safe state, he must shake the swing again. In the same vein, we have no choice but to step up our economic restructuring. . (See Straits Times, July 27, 1985, first edition). The above remarks were made by the Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Singapore at the time and the chairman of the Economic Council appointed by the government on the dramatic economic downturn in Singapore.
