The paper presents an analysis of the horizontal displacement of surfaces induced by exploitation in a longwall panel. The panel under discussion is No. 698 of Prosper Haniel coal mine, Germany. The author discusses both the distribution of displacement vectors, according to the theory assuming surface point displacement towards the center of gravitation(COG) zone of a selected deposit element, and the analysis of horizontal displacement measurements, based on the assumption that the value of horizontal displacement is proportional to the slope of the subsidence trough. Finally, the value of horizontal displacement coefficient B is estimated for particular longitudinal and transverse measurement section of the analyzed longwall No. 698.
