我担任语文课,但是过去没有在高等学校学过语文专业,基础薄弱。开始任课时,困难很多,把语文课上成蹩脚的“政治课”。党及时教导我:要过政治和业务两个关,也就是要又红又专。于是我一方面逐步改造自己,提高觉悟;一方面加强在职进修,提高业务水平。除认真备课,钻研教材外,一九五六年参加南京师范学院函授学习。经过四年功夫,修完了主要课程。达到了大学本科毕业的水平。从一九六零年开始,进入系统提高的第二阶段,系统学习《毛泽东选集》,并按中国文学史系统有步骤地阅读重要作家的代表作品。
