服饰本身,既是一种靠外形轮廓说话的艺术,又是一种制造和烘托出特定内涵的文化氛围的装饰艺术。有服饰仪凭其物象外形轮廓的体现,也就是被人们穿戴以后,就能形神俱备,而又见有形式的美,所以服饰的这种在性能力和审美功能确实是无与伦比的。通过服饰外形轮廓,既能表现人物的内在精神,又能反映出不同阶层的服饰文化的审美意识和审美价值,从而使得性与神,内涵美与形式美很好的结合统一起来了。一般来说,人们的审美心理需求的价值取向,可以分为四个层次:本能美感需求和价值取向、性美美感需求和价值取向、知性美感需求和价值
