In 1984, Professor Niu Wenyuan was invited by Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor Ma Shijin, the founder of Chinese ecology, to come back from the United States to participate in the study of sustainable development. Now, Professor Niu Wenyuan is the leader of the Strategic Research Group for Sustainable Development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the chief scientist of China, the chairman of the China-US Environmental and Sustainable Development Research Center, and a member of the CPPCC National Committee.
