间伐,即抚育采伐,又称抚育间伐。间伐的目的是要在林分郁闭后直至主伐期间,对未成熟林分定期而重复地砍去部分林木,为留存林木创造良好的生长条件,促进留存林木生长发育,并使采伐木得到利用。这就是说,间伐具有双重意义:培育林木与利用中、小径木和薪材。既然间伐的主要目的在于培育生长好,形质好的主伐木(终伐木),为此,间伐就必须遵循“三砍三留”的选木基本原则,即砍劣留优,砍密留稀,砍小留大。
