According to the United States WedMD VW News (2010/2/11) reported February 10 online published in the Lancet oncology journals commented that the new biological agent Denosumab (Amgen Pharmaceutical) can provide a rare landmark of giant cell tumor of bone Treatment. In a study, the drug produced a tumor response (86%) to 30 of 35 patients. The study was edited by Dr. Maurice Balke, MD, of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics at the University of Witten-Herdecke in Koeln, Germany, and Dr. Jendrik Hardes, who reported that this is a clear study showing that there is a selection of rare cancers. A few reports indicate that bisphosphonates may be beneficial, but no successful prospective study has been conducted.
