与历史上很多农民起义一样,清代嘉庆年间爆发的布依族“南笼起义”也是用宗教作为发动群众的手段。过去一般认为, 是王囊仙用宗教发动了群众.但通过对历史资料的深入分析,笔者认为,准确的提法应该是:韦朝元用宗教发动了群众,而王囊仙作为群众最信赖的宗教职业者,在这一非常的历史时刻被推上了精神领袖的位置并参予领导了起义.
