邓小平理论中“变”的含义是：发展是变的根源；变好是变的原则；胆子大，步子稳是变的方法。不变有三个含义，第一个含义是不能变，即根本不能丢，原则立场不能变；第二个含义是变不了，即路子走对了，人民拥护，实践证明是正确的，变不了；第三个含义是稳定。变不是变质、变性，也不是反复、折腾；变中有不变；不变不是凝固，不是僵化；而是发展中的不变；变是为了不变；变在一定条件下可以转化成不变。
The meaning of “change” in Deng Xiaoping Theory is that development is the source of change; change is a principle of change; courageous and steady steps are the way to change.
