学界普遍认为,格非早年的小说创作以形式探索的锋芒彰显,到了20世纪80年代末期,格非的小说创作不论是在美学观念还是审美形态上都有所转变,形式主义实验明显弱化,叙事的完整性得到加强。而笔者认为,格非早期的“形式精英”本质上是一种青春期写作的强烈自我意识,其在形式上对当代现实的疏离正是他迫近这种社会历史形态话语的方式。转型后的格非看似回归大众与平实,在年龄与阅历的增加下达成与外在世界和早年独立、异质的青春期自我之间的和解,实际上表现出的仍是维系着终极关怀与价值担当的精英式写作。先锋的“精英意识”与通俗的“大众精神”于他而言,正如一个硬币的两面,或隐或显的贯穿于格非小说创作的始终。
It is generally accepted by the academic community that in the early 1980s, Ge Fei’s novel creation demonstrated its transformation from an aesthetic concept to aesthetic form.
