门巴族同珞巴族同胞一样,有炽热的生殖崇拜文化,对生殖的理解别于当代人。人类童年大致在原始社会未期,生产力极为低下,群婚造成人的高出生率和高死亡率,而纯增率远远不能满足人类的再生产和围猎所需要众多的劳力,从而逐渐产生了生殖崇拜。开头是崇拜女性生殖器,社会发展到母系氏族阶段,这种崇拜达到了登峰造极的程度。当社会又往前发展一步,进入父系氏族阶段,男性生殖崇拜替代了女性生殖崇拜,相沿成习,传承至今,但女性生殖崇拜的遗迹比比皆是。门巴人男性生殖崇拜的习俗渗透于生产、生活的方方
