In 1913, Oskar Barnac, the director of research at Leeds AG, Germany, designed the prototype of the world’s first small 135 paraxial camera. The model of the camera was named Leica UR. At the time, color film was not invented yet and Leica UR cameras used 135 black and white film produced by Eastman Kodak Company. Camera in the design is also fully consider the needs of black and white photography. The Leica 135 camera pioneered the miniaturization of traditional cameras with its light weight and portability, as well as excellent image quality, as well as the classic models most beloved by documentary photographers. It can be said that black and white photography is the starting point for photography.
