According to AT & T and Japan’s KDD, they have successfully tested the longest optical amplifier system in the world and claim that laboratory tests show they can produce novel, larger-capacity submarine cable systems. In May, KDD shipped 23,000 lbs (about 10432.8 kg) of fiber optic test system to 43 boxes for shipment to Bell Labs, New Jersey, for system testing. At the laboratory, AT & T and KDD connected their own test system of 2,700 miles (4344.3 km). According to two companies
