近些年来,虽有不少文学作品在不同类型和层次的读者群中获得好评,但像《大厂》(载《人民文学》1996年第1期,作者谈歌)这样,反映工厂生活而能受到普遍欢迎、产生轰动效应的,还没有过。那盛况,有点儿像17年前《乔厂长上任记》问世时的情景。 《大厂》写的是某市一家有2000职工的国有企业,因前厂长私吞公款留下亏空,更因面临诸多难点,陷于窘困境地:外欠的帐要不回来,来讨债的赖着不走;老劳模患重病硬撑着不肯住院,小家属做手术得借助众人捐钱;一些工人情绪浮躁,有的偷原材料外卖,有的砸财务科撒气;总工程师心神不定,发明创造因无资金推不上去,想调离工厂另谋出路;就在年关逼近之时,为跑业务壮门面而留下的唯一一辆高级轿车丢失……作品把工厂方方面面的“窝心事”,像打折扇似地一瓣瓣铺展开来,将大大小小的矛盾冲突,如扇骨般都归结到一厂之长吕建国身上,通过他之所历所感,描绘了厂内外众生相,映现了当今的浮世图。
