1984年夏天即将在加利福尼亚州举行的奥运会正在由私人企业家筹办。洛杉矶奥运会组织委员会不准备兴建任何体育宫,各项比赛将在南加州大学、洛杉矶大学和圣巴巴腊加州大学校园的奥林匹克村分散举行。主办人尤伯罗思说:“我们不象前几届奥运会主办国那样有三项重要收入。第一,我们完全靠私人的奥林匹克组织,不仰仗政府补贴;第二,我们无法象加拿大、苏联和墨西哥城、东京那样发行奥林匹克彩票,因为这违反加州法律;第三,不向任何私人募捐。”
The Olympic Games to be held in California in the summer of 1984 are being organized by private entrepreneurs. The Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee is not going to build any Palace of Sport, and the competitions will be scattered across the Olympic Village at the University of Southern California, the University of Los Angeles and the University of California, Santa Barbara. "We do not have three important revenues, as the host countries of the previous Olympic Games. First, we are completely dependent on private Olympic organizations and we do not rely on government subsidies. Second, we can not, like Canada, the Soviet Union and the United States, Mexico City, Tokyo issued Olympic lottery because it violates the laws of California; Third, do not make any private donations.
