David Lodge is a contemporary British novelist and critic with greater influence. Lodge’s critical career goes through three stages: new criticism, classical structuralism and Bakhtin’s poetics. Bakhtin’s Poetics provided the theoretical basis for Lodge eventually to accommodate a variety of different ideas, beliefs and creative techniques.
