2007年初,经国务院批准,从2007年4月8日0时起思茅市改为普洱市,普洱市市级机关所在的翠云区也随之更名为思茅区。普洱市(原思茅市),祖国西南边疆的瑰丽宝地。4.5万平方千米的土地山川秀丽,资源丰富,森林茂密。10个县(区)宛若十块璀璨的宝石镶嵌在祖国西南一块呈三角形的大地上。这里世代居住着汉、佤、拉祜、哈尼、彝、傣、布朗、瑶、苗等14个民族,人口250万人,悠久的历史、绚丽的文化组成了一幅色彩斑斓的民族风情图。
In early 2007, with the approval of the State Council, Simao City was renamed Pu’er City from 04:00 on April 8, 2007, and the Cuiyun District where Pu’er City’s municipal authorities are located was also renamed Simao District. Pu’er City (formerly Simao City) is a magnificent treasureland in the southwestern border of the motherland. The 45,000-square-kilometer land has beautiful mountains, abundant resources, and dense forests. Ten counties (districts) are like ten jewels inlaid on a triangular land in the southwest of the motherland. There have been 14 ethnic groups such as Han, Yi, Lahu, Hani, Yi, Yi, Brown, Yao and Miao in their inhabitants. With a population of 2.5 million, the long history and splendid culture have formed a colorful ethnic customs map.
