在讨论抗日战争时,人们常常提及那些耳熟能详的著名事件和战役,如:卢沟桥事变、淞沪会战、平型关战斗、忻口战役、台儿庄战役、武汉会战、百团大战等等,大多发生在8年抗战的初期;但对于发生在1944年抗战后期的“豫湘桂大战”则少有提及。事实上,豫湘桂大战是中国抗日战争中规模最大的一场战役,它直接改变了当时以及抗战结束后中国的政治格局,进而在中国现代历史上产生了深远影响。
