Small hydropower provides one of the most practical, environmentally sound and viable options for promoting the use of renewable energy, but in many areas it is disrupted by inadequate regulatory agencies and official support. The strategy of developing and utilizing SHP requires that officials have an understanding of the benefits of SHP and its small environmental impact.
