育苗移栽的夏玉米具有棵矮、早熟、高产和便于倒茬等优点。但移栽玉米费工多,平均每人每天只能栽0.5亩左右。为了解决移栽玉米费工的问题,1977年我们试验成功了夏玉米育苗水插移栽的方法,使工效提高4倍以上,每人每天可栽2—5亩。具体作法是:按照预定的行距,用步犁冲沟,每冲两条沟,扶起一个土埂(见图)。冲好沟后,即可顺沟浇水。每次浇2沟。水到头后立即停水,改浇下一趟。趁水未下渗前于犁沟一侧随水栽插玉米,与水稻插秧一样,要栽正、栽浅、防漂秧。栽后5—10天酌情浇1次二
