利用钴-60γ射线3.5万伦琴辐照“科字六号”水稻干种子,经过五个世代,二年半时间育成了比原品种早熟45天的水稻新品种“原丰早”。“原丰早”经过几年的多点试种和生产大面积种植,一般亩产800斤,可比“圭陆矮8号”、“二九青”、“竹莲矮”等早中熟品种增产一成以上,其中高产量可达1370.1斤/亩。中秆大穗,秧令弹性较大,米质较好,赖氨酸含量较高。茬口适应性较广,目前已成为浙江、江苏、湖南、江西、上海等省市的主要良种,在长江流域种植面积1200万亩以上。
