谢觉哉,1884年出生于湖南省宁乡县。1925年加入中国共产党,此后历任中共湘鄂西省委秘书长、文化部副部长,中共中央工农民主政府秘书长兼内务部长,中央工农民主政府内务部部长、秘书长,司法部部长并代理最高法院院长和审计委员会主席,中共驻兰州八路军办事处代表,中共中央党校副校长,中共陕甘宁边区中央局副书记,兼任陕甘宁边区政府秘书长和政府党团书记,中共中央法律问题研究委员会主任委员,华北人民政府委员兼司法部部长等主任职务。新中国成立后,他先后担任中央人民政府内务部长、中央人民政府法制委员会委员、政务院政法委员会委员、新法学研究院副院长,最高人民法院院长和全国政协副主席等职。
Xie Juezai, born in 1884 in Ningxiang County, Hunan Province. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1925 and has served successively as Secretary General and Vice Minister of Culture of the CPC Hunan, Hubei and Western Provinces. Secretary-General and Minister of Internal Affairs of the Central Government’s Workers ’and Peasants’ Democratic Government, Minister of Internal Affairs, Secretary General and Minister of Justice of the Central Government of Workers and Peasants, President of the Court and Chairman of the Audit Committee, Representative of the CPC Office in the Eighth Route Army of Lanzhou, Vice President of CPC Central Party School, Deputy Secretary of CPC Central Committee of Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, Secretary of the Government of Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia Border Region and Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Chairman of the Committee, member of North China People’s Government and Minister of Justice and other director positions. After the founding of New China, he served successively as Minister of the Interior of the Central People’s Government, member of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Central People’s Government, member of the Politics and Law Committee of the State Council, vice president of the New Law Research Institute, president of the Supreme People’s Court and vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
