The United Front and the armed struggle, the party building collectively referred to as the three magic weapons of the Chinese revolution and listed as the first of the three. Many letters written by Comrade Mao Zedong contain quite a wealth of theories and practices. As far as the history of the United Front involved in the “Selected Works of Mao Zedong Letters” is concerned, we may divide it into three periods: the period of brewing and proceeding of the Anti-Japanese War, the setting of a political program and preparations for the CPPCC session on the eve of the founding of the People’s Republic, and the period of socialist transformation and construction . In the first period, Comrade Mao Tse-tung conducted two activities for the establishment, consolidation and development of the anti-Japanese national united front.
