Detailed Rb-Sr and Pb-Pb whole-rock isotope studies of granite collected from the central Ilgan block in Western Australia have been used to develop a genetic model for the evolution of the Archean crust. Research has been conducted on a formation of about 4,000 km2 centered around DiemalsEvanston. Granite rock formations are complex and include gneisses and a wide variety of deformed (massive to eye-like) granite intrusions. These granite bodies both intrude into the granite-gneiss and intrude into the greenstone. In a wide range of shallow
