为了改变监视土坝安全运行测试手段的落后面貌,尽快实现测压管观测水位远距离自动遥测与记录,电力部南京自动化研究所于一九七六年起学习现场技术革新经验,收集有关测压管观测设备的各项技术指标,并结合水文部门,工业部门现有的水位测量现状,进行了方案比较,在此基础上,结合规范要求制定了YS-100型遥测水位仪的设计方案。二年来在安徽省龙河口水库、广东省鹤地水库大力支持下,两套仪器样机经过室内一系列试验和现场试运行,积累了一定的试验资料,具备了技术鉴定的条件。
