登双寨位于贵州省侗族聚居最集中的黔东南都柳江流域,属于从江县东部洛香镇的管辖范围,居民全部都是侗族。当地有根据习惯法规范对小偷小摸行为处罚的案例。由于村寨的住房郝是木质结构,习惯法中的防火规范比较健全。传统的婚姻习惯法规范在当代发生了很大的变迁。当地存在寨老与罗汉制度,村民委员会和寨老在纠纷调解过程中共同发挥着重要作用。
