Two carriers of new-type cholera caused by Vibrato cholera O139 were found from the worshipers in Hongqilapu port of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in June 1994. The isolates were culture and identificated. The results demonstrated that two isolates were the new stereotype of Ⅴ. cholera O139. The successful surveillance for cholera and the finding of carriers of Ⅴ. cholera O139 by Health Quarantine organization in port prevented effectively the widespread of Ⅴ. cholera O139. While performing the surveillance for cholera by each port, we must pay attention to the surveillance of new-type cholera caused by Ⅴ. cholera O139.
