The Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Several Important Issues Regarding Strengthening the Construction of Socialist Spiritual Civilization was passed by the 6th Plenary Session of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for its consideration and approval. It is a programmatic document guiding the construction of China’s socialist spiritual civilization in the coming period. Based on Deng Xiaoping’s theory of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, especially on the building of spiritual civilization, the “Resolution” stipulates the guiding ideology, objectives, tasks and working principles of the two parties in their efforts to develop the socialist market economy and opening up to the outside world. This is yet another historic and significant contribution made by our party to the theory of scientific socialism. The cause of socialist modernization in our country is the cause of the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization. While taking economic construction as the center and doing a good job in building a material civilization, we should strengthen socialist spiritual civilization
